Word for 2020

RESTORE.

It’s not an active word or commitment to action on my part. I could have easily chose a word like that. I had a list of words that demanded a focused action from me. That’s the kind of word I often choose: I like a word that motivates me. But, that’s not what I need. I need a word that exists where God is the source of any activity. Any happenings, any transactions, any transformations….I need to know that it is all clearly sourced and resourced from Him.

I could have chosen the word Surrender. Because, I know, that is my part in seeing the actual word I have chosen come to fruition. And while I will need to live each day in a posture of surrender more and more - and I pray I will understand that posture better this year - what I am counting on is God’s work in my life - His work, not my own.

He is the Restorer.

He makes up for the years the locusts stole. He relieves the heavy heart and fills one’s arms with blessings. Where tears have been sown he brings a harvest of joy. He sends streams into the deserts.

RESTORE.

And when it is done, He pours out his Spirit on both sons and daughters so that the message may go forth: He is the Lord our God, there is no other, and we belong to him. All the glory is His.

Consider me and answer, Lord my God. Restore brightness to my eyes… Psalm 13:3

RESTORE.

(Joel, Psalms 13:3,126:4)
