The Significance of Faith

Hebrews 11:1 - Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

1 John 5:4 - For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.

Your faith matters. You have not put your hope in people or things or philosophies; you have put your trust in God.  It is your faith in Christ that gives you eternal life. It is faith that makes you right in the sight of God. Not good works. Not your own efforts. The source and power of your faith is distinct and unmistakable.  Within your faith is your heart for God, your love for Him.  All of it invisible, yet real and tangible.

It is your faith that will be tested when troubles come. The testing will ignite your endurance to grow, and you will become strong with great fortitude. Your faith will be unending, so rooted in the truth of Jesus that you will learn to need nothing other than Him. Your faith will be such that you will be able to face anything in this life; you will look to the future with confidence and joy.

It is your faith that will help you wait. When you are in a life holding pattern of any sort, you will have faith.  You will not wander or worry.  You will not need to “take matters into your own hands.”  You will trust the hands of God to work out your circumstance, knowing He can take care of anything.

It is your faith that will keep you from giving up.  When you want to throw in the towel, you won’t. When you are tired and at the end of your rope, it will be your faith that will keep you going.

It is your faith that will make a difference. Your faith will foster good works.  As an overflow of your faith, you will serve others.  As your faith matures, you will engage with God more and more to do His work in the world. At times you will not understand the why behind the what He is asking of you.  But your faith will give you confidence in His heart for people. As you know His voice and trust His heart, it is your faith that will overcome evil and do good in His Name.

It is your faith that pleases God. Pursue faith that it may be as fresh and alive as the first day you found it. Don’t become spiritually dull. He will reward you.
